The Dancer's Survival Manual: Everything You Need to Know About Being a Dancer . . . Except How to Dance. Marian Horosko and Judith R. F. Kupersmith. New York: Harper & Row, 1987. Hardcover. First edition. 8vo. 242 pages. Near Fine in Very Good dust jacket. Slight wear to boards. Jacket mildly faded at spine with 1/2 inch tear to front panel near head of spine. From the library of Arthur Mitchell, the first African American principal dancer of the New York City Ballet, and later choreographer and founder of the Dance Theatre of Harlem. Warmly inscribed by both authors to Mitchell: "To Arthur, in remembrance of shared memories, Love Marian Horosko" and "To Arthur, Who knows everything there is to know about being a dancer and how to dance! Love, Judith R. F. Kupersmith" Horosko and Mitchell were colleagues at the New York City Ballet from the mid-fifties until the early sixties under George Balanchine.
