Antique coal-fired sad iron by THE MONITOR, featuring its original attached brass water reservoir. This is a wonderful example of late 19th to early 20th century laundry equipment, used before electric irons became common.

The heavy cast iron body was heated on a stove, while the side-mounted metal reservoir warmed water for dampening fabric or starching garments during ironing. These irons are highly collectible, especially with the water heater still present, as many were separated or lost over time.

This piece displays beautifully as farmhouse, primitive, or industrial décor, or as part of an antique laundry or household collection.
