The internal tension/pressure mechanism that provides resistance to the pedal movement is damaged or not functioning properly. This affects how the pedal responds and holds pressure.
A prior temporary repair attempt was made using a rubber band in place of the original tension component. This was only a stopgap solution and does not restore proper factory function.
