This copy is in very good vintage condition (now more than 20 years old). The dustjacket is intact (unclipped with $35.00 price) with no tears. There is shelfwear (including a couple of bent corners), but nothing major. The book itself is in good condition, but it does have 1 chief flaw: there is a very small indentation at the bottom of the first several pages (copyright page thru introduction); see last photo. Otherwise it's a very clean, tight copy (no writing, torn pages, etc.).

Gulag won the Pulitzer Prize for nonfiction, and it was nominated for the National Book Award.

The book charts the history of the Gulag organization; from its beginnings under Vladimir Lenin and the Solovki prison camp.
The book tracks its diminution following the death of Joseph Stalin and its final closure in the 1980s.
