Clean, well-preserved copy. Leather cover and gilt decoration are crisp with no rubbing or shelf wear. Pages are clean and bright with no writing, underlining, or bookplates; gilt page edges are shiny and intact and the binding is tight and square. Includes original Notes from the Editors pamphlet; no dust jacket as issued.
Hardcover, full black leather binding with elaborate gilt borders and spine decorations, raised bands, and decorative medallion motifs on the covers and spine.
All page edges are gilt, with moire silk endpapers and archival-quality paper in the classic Franklin Library style.
Front free endpaper carries Gore Vidal's signature on a special limitation page protected by a translucent tissue guard.
