【Story】
A virus, spread by pollutants and pesticides, was causing a blight that affected all grasses, leading to famine worldwide.
John Custance (Nigel Davenport), a former soldier and architect, receives word from Roger (John Hamill), his daughter Mary's (Lynn Frederick) boyfriend and a virus researcher, that London is about to be sealed off. He decides to take his family to his brother's farm in the north.
After escaping London, where the distrustful populace has become a mob, John and his family are refused the sale of guns because they lack permits. Piri (Anthony May), a store clerk, shoots and kills the gun shop owner who refuses to accept the collapse of order, and begs John to let him and his wife join them.
Piri shoots and kills a soldier standing in front of a barricade, but John, haunted by memories of the battlefield, is unable to fire his gun. The group picks up John's son, Davy, and his friend from a boarding house and heads north.
On the way, John is stopped at a railroad crossing and attacked by a biker gang. His wife, Ann, and Mary are abducted and violated by the men, but Ann shoots and kills a biker who was too slow to escape and begs for his life. Piri shoots and kills his wife along the way. John, who has killed the gang leader and absorbed other groups, no longer hesitates to pull the trigger in order to survive...
In "The Naked Jungle," Cornell Wilde mercilessly depicts the human desires, violence, and foolishness that gradually emerge in an extreme situation set in a despair-filled near future.
