This is Plate V from the D'Arceau Limoges "Lafayette Legacy Collection," depicting Lafayette delivering messages to Benjamin Franklin and John Adams from Congress at the Hôtel Valentinois in Passy, February, 1779. Part of a series commemorating the life and legacy of Marquis de Lafayette and his role in American history. Together they established plans for action to obtain increased assistance from the government of Louis XVI in order to save the cause of the American Insurgents.
